How to shuffle wallpapers on iPhone

Photo Shuffle rotates a set of your own pictures on the Lock Screen. Here is how to set it up and how often it can change.

Get the wallpapers into Photos

  1. Open a wallpaper full size, press and hold it, and tap Save to Photos.
  2. If they came as a zip, open it in the Files app and tap it to unzip. Open the folder, tap Select, select them all, then tap Share → Save Images.

Set up Photo Shuffle

  1. Press and hold the Lock Screen, then tap + to add a new wallpaper. You can also go to Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper.
  2. Tap Photo Shuffle.
  3. Choose Select Photos Manually and pick the wallpapers you saved.
  4. Set Shuffle Frequency to On Tap, On Lock, Hourly or Daily.
  5. Tap Add, then Set as Wallpaper Pair.

Change how often it shuffles

Press and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, choose the Lock Screen, then tap the ⋯ button and pick a new Shuffle Frequency. On Lock changes the picture every time you wake the phone; Daily keeps one picture for the whole day.

Keep the clock readable

The clock and widgets sit over the top third of the Lock Screen. Wallpapers with a calm area at the top read best; a picture larger than the screen stays sharp — the biggest current iPhones are about 1320 × 2868. See the iPhone wallpaper size guide for each model.
